Specialized Communities - Grade 3

In Social Studies, the grade 3 students have begun a research project on a specialized community (e.g., Teeswater: Une communauté agricole). They are working with a partner to create a Google Slides presentation with specific information, facts, pictures and maps to show connections between features of the natural environment of a region and the type of land use/type of community that is established in the region. Last week, students researched the location and population of the community they selected. This week, they will be researching popular activities in their community (e.g., boating and swimming in communities where there are lakes).

Next week, the grade 3 students will be writing a quiz in Social Studies. A study sheet will be sent home this Wednesday. For this quiz, students must be able to: (1) locate the five Great Lakes on a map; (2) locate the three major landform regions on a map of Ontario; (3) match the name of each landform region with its correct description.
